Puerto Lindo

(DAY092 : Panama City - Puerto Lindo : 75 miles)
(DAY093-94 : Puerto Lindo)

All got confirmed, and I finally got myself out of Panama City. The road to Puerto Lindo starts alongside the canal then joins with a busy route full of trucks. Taking this route on a Sunday could save you close to an hour, but otherwise don't expect to get there in less than 2.5 hours.

Puerto Lindo is east of the dodgy harbor town of Colon, past Portobello, towards Isla Grande. Other than a local kitchen (be sure to try their Pulpo) and a tienda, there's pretty much nothing there. Oh, and the place I stayed at for $10 a night. Hostel Wunderbar is a new backpacker hostel by Guido and his wife Silvia, the owners of the sailboat that'll take us to Colombia. Recently a baby girl has convinced them to live off the boat and start this business. Their genuine Kuna house really is wonderful, but "Wunderbar"? Bavarians!..

So I chilled for three wunderful days with a group of young backpackers, two other bikers riding from Alaska, and the usual suspects, Guido and his temp, Leo. In the evenings, Guido's sailor friends would also join us completing the fuzzy picture. I'm just trying to say buying beer was a "by cases" affair and required use of Guido's truck.

Olivier, Leo, Silvia, Guido, and the guy that drinks all our beer.

Bad weather and semana santa break was threatening to significantly delay our departure, so Guido decided to bust a quick move on Monday.
