Los Antiguos
Sarmiento - Los Antiguos: 220 miles
Shortly after leaving Sarmiento, there it was: The legendary Ruta 40. And if it was as bad throughout as the section we entered it, we might be in for some trouble.

The road surface did improve after a while, but the desolate scenery did not follow suit. At least not until we left 40 behind and approached Los Antiguos on the coast of Lago Buenos Aires.
The shiny, red and blue Africa Twin at the campsite appeared like brand spanking new, and sported a license plate from South Africa. Martin (Switzerland) and Lauren (South Africa) were heading up and had already covered the south through Ruta 40. They had news for me: while the tougher option did provide access to all the must-see places, that didn't mean there was anything to see on the route itself.

Camping at Los Antiguos with Martin and Lauren.

The ideal traveling machine.
