Puyuguapi
Valle de los Exploradores - Coyhaique: 175 miles
Coyhaique - Puyuguapi: 160 miles
On the way out of Puerto Rio Tranquilo I had to face a nasty fact: Kat's final drive was shot, and we were pretty much in the middle of nowhere.
The original front sprocket had been replaced back in Rosario at 18,000 miles, but the after-market item that replaced it was now gone after only 6,300. After serving a whopping 24,300 miles (Scottoiler rules!), the original chain was on its last leg as well. I would either leave the bike in Rio Tranquilo to fetch the parts and tools, or try to ride the 150 miles to Coyhaique and risk getting stranded with nothing around.
Off we went and got lucky.
Coyhaique barely is a city, but to us it now looked like a metropolis. A week waiting for parts in the ugliest place in a long time doesn't go by fast, I promise you that. But I'll never forget the man named Hartmudt, or remember the night of Salsa. And there is at least one dog that will always remember me. (Please don't ask)
Once we managed to cut the old chain and somehow rivet the new one without a press, we were ready to leave. Or so we thought until we started running into friends and chatting away.
We eventually did get the coy out of hique and hit the road, which soon turned to dirt, later to a track in the tropics with glaciers in the background!

Thomas and Andrea caught up to us shortly after we arrived the cute little town of Puyuguapi, and we got to spend a rainy but beerful day catching up :)
